Start with how you brew.
Grinders / Choosing your setup
Choose a grinder around your brewing method and the way you dose coffee. Burr diameter alone does not tell you whether a grinder is a good match.
Espresso, filter or both?
For espresso, look at fine adjustment and how the grinder delivers grounds into a portafilter. For filter coffee, consider the intended grind range, batch size and how easily you can return to a setting. For mixed use, check the exact model’s stated range instead of assuming every grinder covers both.
Choose your dosing routine
- Single dosing: weigh beans for each brew and check the grinder’s intended workflow.
- Timed dosing: the grinder runs for a selected time; the delivered weight can still change with beans and settings.
- Weight-based dosing: check how the specific model measures and dispenses coffee, and which accessories it requires.
Finally, confirm the electrical version, counter space and clearance above the hopper. Check included items and the exact burr configuration before comparing model variants.
