Coffee Scales

A coffee scale should fit both your brewing routine and the space where you use it. Compare platform dimensions, weighing capacity and specified timing or brewing functions.

Choosing coffee scales

For espresso, check clearance under the group and room for the cup on the drip tray. For pour-over, account for the weight and footprint of the brewer and filled server. Calibration weights and replacement weighing pans are accessories, not complete scales.

Is every coffee scale suitable for an espresso drip tray?

Check its footprint, height and the machine's available clearance. A brewing scale may be too large for a particular tray.

Can I use any weight to calibrate a scale?

Use the mass and procedure specified for the exact scale. A listed calibration weight does not establish compatibility with every model.
